NRC Extends Public Comment Period for Spent Nuclear Fuel Storage Rule

The US Nuclear Regulatory Commission has extended the public comment period for a proposed rule on the environmental impacts of storing spent nuclear fuel beyond a reactor's licensed life until December 20, 2013, due to the government shutdown and public requests.
