NHTSA Proposes Changes to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard for Trailer Tires

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has proposed amendments to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 110 to clarify the use of special trailer (ST) tires on new trailers with a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) of 10,000 lbs. or less, and to exempt these trailers from a specific tire testing requirement.
