NHTSA Receives Petition for Importation of Nonconforming BMW S1000RR Motorcycles

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has accepted a petition from BMW Motorrad USA, LLC, requesting that the agency determine that 2011-2012 BMW S1000RR motorcycles that do not meet all applicable Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS) are eligible for importation into the US due to their substantial similarity to US-certified vehicles and their ability to be modified to meet safety standards.
