NHTSA Proposes Rulemaking to Improve Rearview Mirror Safety

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) is seeking to amend the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 111, Rearview Mirrors, to enhance drivers' visibility in areas behind vehicles and reduce fatalities and injuries from backover incidents.
