The U.S. Department of Commerce's National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has received an application for an exempted fishing permit (EFP) from Catcher Vessel Intercooperative and the Pollock Conservation Cooperative, which would enable the applicants to implement a salmon bycatch reduction agreement in the 2007 Bering Sea pollock fishery and avoid closures in designated salmon-saving areas, in line with the Fishery Management Plan for Groundfish of the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands Management Area and the Magnuson-Stevens Act.
