FDA Approves New Health Claim for Noncariogenic Sugar Isomaltulose
Summary
The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued an interim final rule to expand a health claim for noncariogenic carbohydrate sweeteners to include isomaltulose, a sugar that Cargill, Inc. petitioned for approval. The FDA has determined that isomaltulose does not promote dental caries and is amending the regulation to include it as a substance eligible for the claim.
