Volkswagen Granted Exemption from Vehicle Theft Prevention Standard for New Beetle Vehicles

The US Department of Transportation has approved Volkswagen of America's petition to exempt its New Beetle vehicles from the vehicle theft prevention standard, effective for model year 2008 and onwards, due to the effectiveness of an alternative antitheft device.
