New Fuel Economy Standards for Light Trucks from 2008-2011

The U.S. government has introduced new fuel economy standards for light trucks from model years 2008-2011, aiming to reduce fuel consumption and enhance safety. The revised Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) program will be implemented in phases, with manufacturers initially allowed to comply with either the new or traditional standards during a transition period from 2008-2010.
