Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards; Head Impact Protection

The Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards document updates the interior impact requirements to increase the minimum separation distance between tested areas on vertical surfaces of a motor vehicle, aiming to alleviate concerns about test interference. The rule expands the distance to 200 mm (8 inches) and adds targets for non-pillar structures, such as door frames and seat belt mounting structures.
