NMFS Proposes Extension of North Pacific Groundfish Observer Program Regulations

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) is proposing to extend the interim North Pacific Groundfish Observer Program through December 31, 2007, and amend regulations to improve observer certification, duties, and interactions with fishermen and processing plant employees, with the goal of better managed fishery resources and effective conservation of groundfish resources in the Bering Sea and Aleutian Islands Area and the Gulf of Alaska.
