NHTSA Proposes Update to Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 208

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) proposes to update Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 208, Occupant crash protection, to increase the maximum test speed for the 5th percentile adult female test dummy from 30 mph to 35 mph, starting September 1, 2007. This change aims to improve injury protection for smaller occupants in high-speed crashes without compromising the safety of larger occupants.
