NHTSA Denies Petitions to Reconsider Seat Belt Rule Change
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has denied petitions for reconsideration of its final rule eliminating the requirement for seat belt systems to keep the lap belt portion on the pelvis under all conditions. The decision upholds the agency's 2019 rule change, which was finalized on December 18, 2019 (Federal Register Vol. 84, No. 243, December 18, 2019).
