NHTSA Updates List of Nonconforming Vehicles Eligible for Importation

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has revised its list of vehicles that were not originally manufactured to conform to federal safety standards, making them eligible for importation, effective October 1, 1999, and published annually in the Federal Register.
