NHTSA Withdraws Rulemaking Action on Light Vehicle Brake Systems for Trucks and Buses
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has withdrawn a rulemaking action initiated in 1996, which proposed extending passenger car brake system requirements to trucks, buses, and smaller vehicles. The decision was made after NHTSA determined that the costs and burden of redesigning brake systems for these vehicles would outweigh any potential safety benefits.
