Summary

The National Exchange Carrier Association, Inc. and Federal-State Joint Board on Universal Service have simplified the process for rural health care providers to receive support from the universal service support mechanism, and adopted rules allowing the Universal Service Administrative Company to provide support for any commercially available telecommunications service, regardless of bandwidth. The USAC will now calculate support based on actual distance-based charges, unless a request for a more comprehensive calculation is made and substantiated.
