NHTSA Allows Importation of Nonconforming 1991 BMW 735IL Passenger Cars

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has decided that 1991 BMW 735IL passenger cars, which do not meet all applicable Federal motor vehicle safety standards, can be imported into the US due to their substantial similarity to a US-certified version and ability to be modified to meet safety standards.
