NHTSA Denies Toyota's Petition to Reconsider Side Impact Safety Standard for Light Trucks and Buses

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has rejected Toyota's request to modify the dynamic side impact testing requirements for light trucks, buses, and multipurpose passenger vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating of 6,000 pounds or less, citing concerns that the proposed alternative method would incorrectly exclude vehicles that should still be subject to the new standards.
