NHTSA Allows Importation of Nonconforming 1994 Mercedes-Benz E500 Cars

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) has announced that 1994 Mercedes-Benz E500 passenger cars, which do not meet all applicable Federal motor vehicle safety standards, are eligible for importation into the United States. These vehicles are substantially similar to a U.S.-certified version of the 1994 Mercedes-Benz E500 and can be modified to comply with the safety standards.
