NHTSA Proposes Update to FMVSS 121 for Air Brake Systems
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) proposes to update the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) 121, Air Brake Systems, to require the automatic removal of moisture and contaminants from air brake systems in trucks, truck tractors, and buses. This change aims to enhance the reliability and durability of antilock braking system (ABS) modulator valves and pneumatic control valves, ultimately improving the safety of air-braked vehicles.
