الملخص
In accordance with the Paperwork Reduction Act of 1981 (44 U.S.C. Chapter 35), the Consumer Product Safety Commission has submitted to the Office of Management and Budget a request for approval of a proposed collection of information in the form of a survey of manufacturers of upholstered furniture. The purpose of this survey is to obtain information about the types of fabrics and filling materials currently used in the production of upholstered furniture. In 1994, the Commission began a rulemaking proceeding to develop a flammability standard for upholstered furniture to address risks of death, injury, and property damage associated with fires resulting from ignition of upholstered furniture by small open-flame sources. The information obtained from the proposed survey will be used in conjunction with data obtained from flammability testing of upholstered furniture items to make estimates of potential benefits and potential costs of the flammability standard for upholstered furniture now under development.
