DOE Announces Wind Energy Lease Issuance and Site Characterization Activities for Atlantic Outer Continental Shelf

The Department of the Interior has published a notice to involve various stakeholders in its 'Smart from the Start' wind energy initiative, aiming to identify areas for wind energy leasing proposals and analyze the initiative's decisions in accordance with the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969. This initiative, announced by Secretary Ken Salazar in 2010, seeks to accelerate responsible wind energy development on the Atlantic Outer Continental Shelf.
