NMFS Prohibits Pacific Cod Fishing in Gulf of Alaska's Central Regulatory Area
The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) has prohibited directed fishing for Pacific cod by vessels that harvest the fish for processing in the Gulf of Alaska's Central Regulatory Area. This measure aims to prevent the overfishing of Pacific cod, which is limited to 2011's total allowable catch (TAC) for vessels in this region.
