Medicare and Medicaid Program Changes: New Enrollment and Referral Requirements

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has released an interim final rule requiring healthcare providers to include their National Provider Identifier (NPI) on Medicare and Medicaid applications and claims, and to document referrals to high-risk programs, such as durable medical equipment and home health services.
