Summary
The US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) has finalized a rule to control ergocristine, a chemical precursor used in the illicit manufacture of lysergic acid diethylamide (LSD), as a List I chemical under the Controlled Substances Act (CSA). The rule, which was proposed in 2010, will regulate all transactions involving ergocristine, regardless of size or concentration, and subject handlers to the chemical regulatory provisions of the CSA.
