Improving Public Safety Communications in the 4.9 GHz Band

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has taken steps to improve public safety communications in the 4.9 GHz band, bolstering a nationwide approach to utilize the band efficiently for public safety missions nationwide. The FCC will select a 4.9 GHz Band Manager to apply for a nationwide overlay license and enter into a sharing agreement with FirstNet.
