FEC Receives Petition to Amend Regulations on Disgorgement of Illegal Campaign Contributions

The Federal Election Commission received a petition on August 25, 2022, requesting that it amend its regulations to allow committees to return illegal campaign contributions to the US Treasury and to require disgorgement in cases where a refund would be unjust and encourage future lawbreaking.
