EPA Finalizes Decisions on Financial Responsibility Requirements for Electric Power, Petroleum, and Chemical Industries

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has finalized its decisions not to impose financial responsibility requirements under the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA) for facilities in the electric power generation, transmission, and distribution industry, the petroleum and coal products manufacturing industry, and the chemical manufacturing industry, based on analysis of existing environmental protections and Superfund program experience.
