The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) has implemented management measures to protect the red grouper stock in the Gulf of Mexico, reducing commercial and recreational catch limits as part of the Fishery Management Plan (FMP) for the Reef Fish Resources of the Gulf, as prepared by the Gulf of Mexico Fishery Management Council (Council).
