NMFS and USFWS Initiate 5-Year Review of Loggerhead Sea Turtle Distinct Population Segments

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS) are launching a 5-year review of eight loggerhead sea turtle (Caretta caretta) distinct population segments (DPSs) to ensure accurate listing classifications under the Endangered Species Act (ESA). The review will be based on the best available scientific and commercial data and requests information on the status, threats, and recovery of the DPSs since their listing on September 22, 2011.
