CPSC Issues Final Rule on Window Covering Cords to Address Strangulation Risk

The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is issuing a final rule to deem certain window coverings as presenting a substantial product hazard (SPH) due to hazardous cords, in an effort to prevent strangulation of young children. The rule amends existing regulations to include window coverings with hazardous cords or without manufacturer labels.
