U.S. Department of Defense Corrects Inventory of Human Remains and Associated Funerary Objects
Summary
The U.S. Department of Defense has corrected an inventory of human remains and associated funerary objects, initially published in a Notice of Inventory Completion in the Federal Register on February 26, 2015, to reflect updated information on the number of individuals and associated objects, as well as new findings on cultural affiliation. The Department of the Navy is seeking written requests from lineal descendants or representatives of eligible tribes and Native Hawaiian organizations to transfer control of the human remains and associated objects.
