NMFS Reduces Atlantic Herring Possession Limit for Midwater Trawl Vessels in Cape Cod Catch Cap Closure Area

Summary

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) has reduced the Atlantic herring possession limit for vessels using midwater trawl gear in the Cape Cod Catch Cap Closure Area due to projected catch cap exhaustion, in order to comply with the Atlantic Herring Fishery Management Plan and limit river herring and shad harvests in the area.
