EPA Approves Georgia's Revised Air Plan to Reduce Cross-State Air Pollution
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has approved parts of Georgia's revised State Implementation Plan (SIP) to address the Clean Air Interstate Rule (CAIR) and the Cross-State Air Pollution Rule (CSAPR), which was submitted by Georgia on July 26, 2017. This approval allows large electricity generating units (EGUs) in Georgia to participate in new CSAPR state trading programs for emissions of nitrogen oxides (NOx), sulfur dioxide (SO2), and ozone season nitrogen oxides (NOx), replacing federal requirements.
