Sauk-Suiattle Indian Tribe and Tribes Submit Steelhead Fishery Resource Management Plan for Review
The Sauk-Suiattle Indian Tribe, Swinomish Indian Tribal Community, Upper Skagit Indian Tribe, and the Skagit River System Cooperative, in collaboration with the Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, have submitted a steelhead fishery resource management plan to the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) for review. The plan aims to manage the harvest of natural-origin Skagit River steelhead as an independent unit within the Endangered Species Act-listed Puget Sound steelhead demographic population segment, with the goal of reducing the likelihood of survival and recovery of these endangered fish species.
