Pipeline Safety: Enhanced Emergency Order Procedures

The Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) has issued an interim final rule (IFR) to implement emergency order authority granted by the Protecting our Infrastructure of Pipelines and Enhancing Safety Act of 2016 (PIPES Act). The new regulations aim to enhance PHMSA's enforcement authority to address imminent hazards to public health and safety or the environment.
