Norfolk Southern Railway Company Requests Approval for Positive Train Control Safety Plan and System Certification

Norfolk Southern Railway Company has submitted its Positive Train Control Safety Plan (PTCSP) to the Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) for approval and certification, following a request made on August 12, 2016, to implement the system on its Interoperable Electronic Train Management System (I-ETMS). The FRA will review and issue a certification for the Positive Train Control System, as required by the regulations under 49 CFR part 236, subpart I.
