Engine Alliance Turbofan Engines: Airworthiness Directive Supersession

The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) is superseding Airworthiness Directive (AD) 2013-02-06 for Engine Alliance GP7270 and GP7277 turbofan engines with specific part numbers due to inadequate cooling of the high-pressure turbine (HPT) stage 1 shroud and stage 2 nozzle, leading to nozzle damage, burn-through, and in-flight shutdowns. The updated directive requires inspections and removal of affected nozzles to prevent HPT stage 2 nozzle failure, uncontrolled fires, and in-flight shutdowns.
