Northeast Fisheries Agency Closes Georges Bank Cod Fishery, Reduces Quota for Common Pool Vessels

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) has closed the Georges Bank Cod Trimester Total Allowable Catch Area to Northeast multispecies common pool vessels, reducing the Georges Bank cod possession and trip limit for common pool vessels until December 31, 2016, in an effort to prevent overfishing of the Georges Bank cod stock.
