Coast Guard to Collaborate on SUAS Research with University of Massachusetts Amherst and Other Companies

The US Coast Guard plans to collaborate with multiple companies and the University of Massachusetts Amherst on a research project to assess the potential of small unmanned aircraft systems (SUAS) for maritime use by first responders and DHS components. The Coast Guard will conduct flight tests and evaluations in various maritime scenarios, soliciting public comment on potential participation and inviting other interested parties to submit proposals.
