Clarification of Final Rules for Grandfathered Plans, Preexisting Condition Exclusions, Lifetime and Annual Limits, Rescissions, Dependent Coverage, Appeals, and Patient Protections Under the Affordable Care Act
The US Departments of Labor, Health and Human Services, and the Treasury clarified rules for non-grandfathered health plans and insurance issuers regarding out-of-network emergency services, requiring them to limit cost-sharing and pay a minimum amount for these services. The American College of Emergency Physicians challenged these rules in court, which partially granted and partially denied their motion for summary judgment, leading to a remand of the case.
