Mars, Inc. Seeks FDA Approval for Spirulina Blue as Food Coloring

Mars, Inc. has submitted a petition to the FDA to amend regulations allowing the safe use of spirulina blue, a natural food coloring derived from the algae Spirulina platensis, in candy and chewing gum products.
