NMFS Issues Final Rule to Expand Subsistence Halibut Fishing Opportunities for Rural Residents in Alaska

The National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) has revised the criteria for rural residents to participate in the subsistence fishery for Pacific halibut in Alaska, allowing those living outside designated communities to access the fishery and support conservation efforts under the Northern Pacific Halibut Act of 1982.
