NSF Approves Funding for Advanced Technology Solar Telescope Project

The National Science Foundation (NSF) has approved the funding for the construction of the Advanced Technology Solar Telescope (ATST) Project at the Preferred Mees site on the Island of Maui, Hawai`i, following a proposal submitted by the National Solar Observatory in 2004. The decision aims to support unprecedented progress in solar observation and mitigate potential catastrophic events by increasing our understanding of the Sun's impact on Earth.
