EPA Proposes to Exclude Hazardous Waste from Regulations

The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is proposing to grant a petition by Cooper Crouse-Hinds to exclude wastewater treatment plant sludge and filter sand from hazardous waste regulations under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA). The proposed decision is based on an evaluation of waste-specific information provided by the petitioner, which concludes that the waste is non-hazardous and that the process minimizes threats to human health and the environment.
