DOE Amends Energy Conservation Standards for Commercial and Industrial Equipment

The Department of Energy (DOE) has finalized amended energy conservation standards for commercial and industrial equipment, including packaged terminal air conditioners and heat pumps, to be more stringent than previously set by the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating, and Air- Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) and Illuminating Engineering Society of North America (IESNA). The new standards aim to reduce energy consumption and are supported by clear evidence of their feasibility and economic justification.
