U.S. Navy Requests Authorization to Take Marine Mammals for Active Sonar Training Off U.S. Atlantic Coast

The U.S. Navy has submitted a request to the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS) to take marine mammals during active sonar training exercises off the U.S. Atlantic Coast and in the Gulf of Mexico from January 2009 to January 2014, and is seeking public input on proposed regulations governing this activity.
