Medicaid Program and SCHIP: Final Rule Sets State Requirements for Reporting Improper Payments

The final rule outlines the necessary information states must provide to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) for estimating improper payments in Medicaid and the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP), in compliance with the Improper Payments Information Act of 2002 (IPIA). The rule responds to public comments and sets forth requirements for claims and policies submissions, as well as eligibility reviews and error rate estimation.
