EPA Proposes New Regulations for Particulate Matter Less Than 2.5 Micrometers (PM2.5) to Prevent Significant Deterioration of Air Quality
The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is proposing new regulations to implement a Prevention of Significant Deterioration (PSD) program for areas attaining the particulate matter less than 2.5 micrometers (PM2.5) National Ambient Air Quality Standard (NAAQS), which was established in 1997. The proposed regulations aim to facilitate the implementation of PM2.5 PSD by developing increments, Significant Impact Levels (SILs), and a Significant Monitoring Concentration (SMC) to screen major sources subject to PSD and determine the level of analysis and data gathering needed.
