EPA Approves Indiana's Ozone Redesignation Request for Central Indiana Area
The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has approved Indiana's request to redesignate the Central Indiana Area, comprising eight counties, to attainment of the 8-hour ozone National Ambient Air Quality Standard (NAAQS). This approval follows the submission of an ozone maintenance plan by the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) in 2007, which demonstrates the area's ability to maintain the ozone standard through 2020.
