US Watermelon Industry to Increase Assessment Rate to Support Research and Promotion

The National Watermelon Promotion Board is raising the assessment rate on watermelon producers, handlers, and importers from four cents to six cents per hundredweight, with domestic producers and handlers paying three cents and importers paying six cents, to fund research and promotional activities.
